Founding member and sax player of the Dave Mathews Band, LeRoi Moore, passed away unexpectedly at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles this afternoon.
He had been seriously injured on June 30 in an ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia, suffering from a punctured lung and broken ribs.
A rep for the band said that Moore had recently returned to his home in Los Angeles "To begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program," but died due to "Sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident."
He was 46 years old.
The band who was scheduled to play at the Staples Center in L.A. tonight is going on with the show as planned.
