Malibu Chili Cook-Off

If you are looking for something to do this Labor Day weekend and you have kids or are dating someone new and don't know what to do with them or are looking to spy a celebrity or are just plain bored, the Annual Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off is going on in Malibu from Aug 29th thru Sept. 1st.

They have all of the total cheeze rides that are fun to risk your life for sometimes, live bands and you can sample a ton of crazy chili recipes like chocolate chip chili.

I saw them setting up for it yesterday and it looks like they have more rides this year.

The traffic in Malibu will be out of control but if you decide to go, have fun!

The Bold And The Beautiful Style Must Haves Fall 2008

Harper's Bazar says that what's "IN" is florals for Fall and what's "OUT" is being afraid of florals for Fall.

The thought of florals in Fall can make me cringe, even living in southern California where you can pretty much wear whatever you want. But even I can appreciate a beautiful floral dress in the Fall like the one by Erin Fetherston pictured above. Can you dig it?

Aside from the floral look, the major look this Fall is BOLD accessories. Be BOLD! Put the tiny necklaces away and STAND OUT in the crowd. Slip on some fire engine red Mary Jane pumps.

Also, BERRY is the color this Fall. That's good for me. I love berry colors!

Here is a list of some MUST HAVES for Fall 2008:

Just to clarify, I'm not saying that you must have these items. I'm saying that you should try to incorporate these type of looks into your wardrobe...if you care about these type of things. And I know you do, you little fashionistas.

His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama Of Tibet

The Dalai Lama has been hospitalized in Mumbai, India.

The Dalai Lama's spokeperson, Tenzin Takla, said that he will undergo tests due to abdominal discomfort. Takla said, "Since tests haven't begun yet, we don't know what the ailment is. Medical tests will begin on Friday."

Mohan Rajan, the spokesman for Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital said that the Dalai Lama gets a routine check up every six months and that he had been in for one a month ago at which time he was in "perfect health."

He added that "There is no cause for concern."

Lets hope that he is right.

Get well soon!!!!

Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.

David Duchovny Is Addicted To Sex

I didn't see this one coming.

David Duchovny has released a statement through his lawyer saying, "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

If someone is going to go public with an announcement like that, from a females point of view, I am thinking that Tea Leoni, his wife of 10 years, told him that if he wanted her to stick around, not only would he have to get help, but he better also show that he serious about it. And what better way to show that you are serious than by announcing it to the world.

If you want, encourage or agree with the decision for your husband to make such a public proclamation, he must have been a bad bad boy. Because that is pretty huge to share with the world.

Sheridan & Bolton Split

Don't know if you'll care but Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton won't be getting married after all. The couple who first dated in 1993, broke up, got back together in 2006, then got engaged, have broken up again.

Nicollette's rep said, "Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement." Yada Yada Yada "They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter."

I guess you could say that they gave it their best shot.

Changes In "The Hills"

So, did you watch The Hills last night? It was boring.

Lauren needs to get some new friends and/or start being a better friend herself.

Lo should move back to Laguna, get a job at Merril Lynch and find herself some old rich guy to marry, who thinks all of her snobbery and pouting is cute.

Stephanie Pratt had enough foundation on her face to sink a ship.

Brody is still looking for a PAR- TAY.

Audrina didn't say much and why should she. She gets paid WAY less than Speidi! Not fair MTV!

And this was NOT in last night show but Whitney has got herself a new gig.

It was confirmed to NYU On The Record that Whitney is now working at Diane Von Furstenberg and started working there yesterday. Lucky girl. I love DVF!

Does it mean she is no longer working for the People's Revolution? Don't know cuz she is only interning in the PR department at DVF. Can't see how she could do both jobs though.

Rumor has it that she will also be getting her own spin-off show too. MTV has been filming DVF offices all week so you never know.

DVF has also hired one of Whitney's friends. Sounds like a show to me.

And on a side note... Have you seen the pay scale of what everyone earns on The Hills? Here is the breakdown:

Lauren Conrad: $75,000 per episode
Heidi Montag: $65,000 per episode
Spencer Pratt: $65, 000 per episode (FOR WHAT?)
Audrina Partridge: $35,000 per episode (She shouldn't have been so nice to Lo)
Whitney Port: $20,000 per episode
Brody Jenner: $10,000 per episode
Lauren "Lo" Bosworth: $10,000 per episode
Stephanie Pratt: $8,000 per episode
Frankie Delgado: $0 per episode

R.I.P. Andre Young Jr.

Dr. Dre's son, Andre Young Jr. , was found dead on Saturday morning at home in Woodland Hills by his mother who tried to wake him up at around 10:30 AM.

There was no response while she was trying to wake him and after paramedics were called, Andre was pronounced dead after their efforts failed to revive him.

Photobucket

His mother told police that Andre had been out the night before and didn't come home until about 5:30 that morning.

Cause of death is still unknown but they are awaiting toxicology test results.

A rep for Dr. Dre said he "is mourning the loss of his son. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."

Andre was 20 years old

Coldplay Sewing Their Oats

Who knew that Coldplay likes to sew their own clothes? Really? Really.

Apparently, the band has (is) a little sewing factory. It's what they do. Chris Martin told the Daily Mirror so. Get it? So. Sew. So.

You know the old saying: A band who sews together...stays together.

According to Chris Martin, it keeps them a tight-knit. He said, "Making clothes together in our studio makes us feel complete. We probably sound like a group of grannies in a knitting circle but it's the truth and it gives us some control over our visual identity."

When most rock bands head back to their hotel rooms with their entourage and groupies, pillaging through the mini bars looking to score some booze and whatever else they can get their hands on, Coldplay is thinking about fabric and thread.

"We see if they have a sewing kit in the amenities draw in case we feel inspired," says Chris.

It gives them unity. "When you are a big band and everyone is taking shots at you, the more things you can do together the better. And if you're wearing uniforms made by your own hands it helps achieve that."

Someone should have given Aerosmith a needle and thread.

Viva la Singer! No pun intended.

Oops I Passed Out!

****UPDATE****

K-Ci went on the radio today and said that Jojo suffers from epilepsy, that they had flown 20 hours to get to Australia, went straight to the show and that as a result of being tired, JoJo had an epileptic seizure.

His explanation for not rushing over to see if JoJo was ok or not was a little weak. He said that JoJo lays on the stage sometimes while they preform. Face down?

*****************

Looks like I am not the only one who has embarrassing experiences in front of other people.

About 8 or 9 years ago, I was going to get my hair done at at a salon in the Sports Club LA. K-Ci and JoJo from the R&B group Jodeci were there too. They were getting mani and pedi's.

They were funny guys so I was joking around with them. I had not eaten all day and when I stood up, I felt like I was going to pass out. I told a hair dresser who had walked up to me that I felt like I was going to faint. Thank God she was standing there because that's the last thing that I remember before I went down.

She saw my eyes roll back in my head and grabbed me, easing me to the ground as I collapsed. When I woke up, I was surrounded by a what seemed like a ton of people. All standing over me yelling "Call 911!"

I was immediately and TOTALLY embarrassed. And to add insult to injury, I started throwing up! Thank God again, there was a trash can right there for me to use so I didn't have to hurl all over the floor, in front of (in my head) the world.

I've fainted 3 times in my life and 2 out of the 3, I have thrown up. I guess, that is my thing.

Aren't you glad that I'm sharing?

Everyone was really nice to me and took good care of me, including K-Ci and JoJo (I didn't know who there were until later when someone told me) and it turned out that I was fine. Aside from feeling like an idiot.

Ironically (for me at least), last night Jodeci was having some sort of reunion concert in Australia. And right in the middle of singing "All My Life," JoJo passed out in the middle of the song. Hit the floor. Face first!

He wins. That sucks way more than my experience. Poor guy.

It's True

Retired porn star Jenna Jameson has confirmed to US Weekly that she is indeed pregnant. Although earlier reports were false, she just found out that she IS pregnant for real.

In case you don't know, the father is her boyfriend, UFC fighter, Tito Ortiz.

I hope that they plan on home schooling because this poor kid would be tortured on the playground on a daily basis by the other kids. Can you imagine?

Good luck with that!

Kodak Moments

Looks like Brad Pitt has turned into a picture taking fool, like most dad's do when they have kids. Only most dad's are left with carrying their photos in their wallets or displaying them on their desk at work.

But Brad is not most dad's, is he? He gets to display his collection in a magazine.

Fashion Week Daily is reporting that according to several confirmed Hollywood sources, Brad photographed Angelina Jolie and the kiddie crew at the Chateau Miraval in the South of France last week for the cover of W magazine.

I'm sure that the photos will be great. How could you take a bad photo of that beautiful woman with her adorable kids?

A Beautiful Guy And An Amazing Story

You may or may not know who he is, but Jason Becker is one of the most talented musicians in the world, with a spirit like no other.

Photobucket

If you 've never heard of him before, there is probably a reason for that. While just entering his prime at the age of 20, Jason was hit with the horrible disease of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Only one week after joining David Lee Roth's band, as Steve Vai's replacement.

Photobucket

He had started showing signs and he didn't know what was happening to him. David Lee Roth assumed that he had a substance abuse problem.

Although he finished recording the album with them, he was not able to go on tour with them.

That was in 1989 and Jason was given only 5 years to live. Well, I'm happy to report that Jason is alive and well and still going strong, only he does it from a wheel chair or a bed and without speaking or moving.

He has not been able to move or speak for about 20 years now. He can smile his beautiful smile though and he communicates with his eyes.

His father Gary, came up with an eye chart system a long time ago, so that Jason would be able to communicate. Jason moves his eyes to correspond with a letter. Yes, that's a lot of eye movement but his family and friends (his care-takers) have got it down to a science.

Photobucket

Through computer technology, Jason was able to compose and release an instrumental musical masterpiece in 1996, entitled Perspectives. He began writing the music before the ALS had completely crippled his movement. He used his guitar until he was unable to use both hands at which time he used a keyboard. Jason continued to compose while his disease worsened at which point his friend Mike Bemesderfer helped him with a music-composing computer program which could read the movements of his head and eyes enabling Jason to continue to compose after he lost control of his entire body.

You should really listen to his music. Even if you're not into instrumental, I guarantee, it will still blow you away. It is so beautiful that it makes you want to weep.

My favorite song is "Higher."

You can hear it on his MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/jasonelibecker

In 1999, Jason released Raspberry Jams, which contains various un-released demo tracks. And then in 2003, he released Blackberry Jams, which contains demo-tracks and alternate versions of songs that were later reworked and published into other albums.

Efforts have been made from friends of Jason's to help raise money for him to keep him alive. Although, the efforts have not always been successful, at least there is always hope. Eddie Van Halen helped to orchestrate a fundraiser in Chicago at one point where he and Jason were under the impression that the money from the fundraiser would donated to Jason. In the end, the money was donated to an ALS foundation which is good for them, but does not help Jason's plight at all.

Two tribute albums were made to benefit Jason's medical expenses with contributions from friends Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman, Joe Becker, Rusty Cooley and Mattias Eklundh. The albums are Warmth In The Wilderness I and Warmth In The Wildreness II.

No one has expected Jason to live this long. He is 39 years old now. He is a medical miracle. It is VERY expensive to keep him going everyday. To keep him alive. Which is his right. His body may not be working the way he'd like it to be working, but his mind is just fine. He lives with his family in Richmond, California. They along with good friends, care for him every single day. He cannot breathe on his own and without going into a lot of details, let me just assure you that it is very expensive and well worth it.

Jason has a lot of trouble with his insurance companies who try to drop him on pretty much of a daily basis. They live in constant fear, financially.

So if this story has touched you, you can do something about it. You can help. If you would like to send a donation to Jason, you can do that at:

P.O. Box 70513
Point Richmond, CA 94807

Or you can buy his music by going to his website at http://www.jasonbecker.com

Jason is not a cause but he does have one.

Witch Hunt

Sienna Miller's home in London was vandalized last night. The culprits spray painted the word "SLUT" on her home along with what people are saying is some sort of satanic symbol.

I don't really know what that symbol is supposed to mean because I'm not really hip to all of "Satan's symbols."

It seems a little strange to me that so many people are trying to cruxify Sienna Miller right now.

I'm not going to try to justify her running around with a married man. I'm one of those chicks who finds that sort of behavior to be very distasteful. I mean, I don't even know what to say about those photo's of the two of them in Italy. It appears that this is Sienna's mom in photo.

Photobucket

Raise your hand if you've ever kissed a guy while being topless in front of your mom. Can't see if your hand is up or not but mine is down. Sweet Geezus!

I'm just saying that what I'm finding strange is that it seems like only 10 minutes ago, the tides were turned in her favor.

Everyone felt so bad for Sienna after Jude Law cheated on her with the nanny while they were engaged to be married. Remember that? All of those pictures of Sienna crying and being comforted by friends. Sniff sniff boo hoo, everybody felt sorry for her.

And then it was Sienna the "fashion icon." What is Sienna wearing? Wow! Did she cut her hair? Look how she's wearing her jeans with those ankle boots. Check out her sunglasses! Yay, Sienna is smiling again!

And now? Drown that bitch!

What is it about Sienna Miller that makes people want to sitck her up on a pedastal only to knock her down from it and then beat the crap out of her with it?

The men in her life don't get this much attention. Nobody spray painted "CHEATING WHORE" on Jude Law's house and nobody is spray painting anything on Balthazar Getty's house either.

What's up with that?

All I know is that a lot of people seem to get real passionate when it comes to this little chippie from London.
